The Calhoun County Humane Society needs volunteers to temporarily foster dogs Sunday and Monday when temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s and 30s.

"The vet recommended we bring them in, but we don't have enough room or crates for them all," said Melodie Martin Griffith, volunteer for the humane society, 201 Stringham Drive, in Port Lavaca.

It is important to keep dogs warm that have had surgery recently, she said.

Volunteers can return the dogs Tuesday, when the temperatures are expected to be in the 50s.

Anyone interested in temporarily fostering a dog is asked to contact the Calhoun County Humane Society at 361-553-8916 or Melodie Martin Griffith at 361-212-1180.
