• First job: My brother had a paper route with the Advocate, and I threw papers for him on weekends. He paid me $1 a day to throw 153 papers. Then, down the line, he cut me back to 50 cents.
What it taught me: That job taught me responsibility. I was 11 or 12 years old, and some days, the wind would be blowing, and it was cold. I rode my bike and could only hold 75 papers at a time, so I'd have to go back and get the rest. One morning, I had six papers left over, and I didn't know why. I realized I had missed a street, so I got back on the bike and delivered them.
