Parents need to help student drivers

Editor, the Advocate:

Victoria Educational Associates teaches excellent courses.

Parents apply to the state and get the packet. It should have all the instructions and forms required for the "parent-taught" driver education.

Sending our children through Mr. Sciacca's excellent classroom course, instead of doing all of it ourselves - even if it wouldn't count - would still be the absolute best choice. Our children need all the preparation available to prepare them for the challenges, responsibilities and dangers of driving. A few more hours behind the wheel, which is not fulfilled by VEA but by the parents, cannot hurt anyone and will only prepare them more.

Sciacca is a great help to parents, but it is our - the parents' - actual responsibility to complete the state packet and fulfill the requirements. Thank you, Mr. Sciacca and VEA instructors.
