Woman texting and driving, runs into pole

Victoria Police Department personnel inspect a damaged street sign at the intersection of East Rio Grande and Liberty Street after a silver Cadillac CTS driven by Rebecca Edison, 45, of Victoria, crashed into a telephone pole. Edison was transported to Citizens Medical Center and was said to be in stable condition by a hospital representative  Sunday evening.

Rebecca Edison, 45, of Victoria, drove into a pole on the 100 block of East Rio Grande Street on Sunday evening after she lost control of her vehicle.

Edison told Victoria Police Department officials that she was driving and texting when she dropped her phone and lost control of the silver Cadillac CTS, said officer Martin Chavez of the Victoria Police Department.

Officers were called to the scene about 8:40 p.m., Chavez said. He said Edison was transported to Citizens Medical Center.

A Citizens Medical Center official said Edison is in stable condition.
