No one was hurt after a car crashed into the Dollar General in the 1600 block of North Navarro Street on Monday afternoon.

Mitchell Walters, 57, of Victoria, pulled into the business' parking lot in his white Ford Crown Victoria about 1:30 p.m.

He said he was there to buy some peppermints when his foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator.

His vehicle hit some yellow shopping carts at the front of the store. They broke the glass, which caused damage to at least one window valued at $1,000, said Victoria Police Officer Brandon Allen.

Walters was not issued a ticket.

"My driving record was basically flawless," Walters said. "I'm just really glad no one was hurt inside."

Olivia Monroy, who has worked at the store for the past six years, said sometimes the parking lot can be tricky.

"Sometimes, they (customers) have a hard time getting out," she said.

Monroy was counting money in her till when the crash happened.

"I had my back turned. All I heard was a big bang," she said.

She was thankful Walters did not hit the propane tanks nearby.
