Victoria County Groundwater Conservation District meets Friday morning to discuss whether to move forward with a protest against a proposed saltwater injection well in Bloomington.

The meeting will be 9 a.m. at the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center, 2805 N. Navarro St., Classroom 108.

Petrodome Operating, a Houston-based company, is in the permitting process to use an existing well as a disposal well for the Eagle Ford Shale. If approved, the well would become the 20th active disposal well in the county.

According to Petrodome's notice, published Sept. 19, the wastewater would be injected into the strata between 3,470 and 4,230 feet deep.

Bloomington residents, health care professionals and elected county officials are organized to present their protest to the Railroad Commission of Texas once a hearing is scheduled.
