Two Victoria men were transported to a hospital about 6:30 a.m. Thursday after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 59 South at Spur 91.
Buena Perales, 57, of Cuero, and Guadalupe Perales, 49, of Victoria, were taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro, where they remain in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The two men were traveling north on U.S. Highway 59 in a 2013 Chevrolet pickup when they pulled over to the shoulder to slow down, according to a Department of Public Safety crash report written by Trooper Joshua Kelly.
The truck then pulled back into traffic, attempting to make a left turn and cut through the median divider, according to the report.
It was struck by a Lowe's 2010 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was also northbound on the highway. The driver, David Garza, 33, of Alice, was not injured.
Perales will be charged with making an unsafe turn. The wreck is still under investigation.
