Oil-field truck collapses wooden bridge
An oil-field truck collapsed a wooden bridge Friday night in Gonzales County, about 14 miles west of Yoakum.
Scott Mozisek, 31, said his dad's ranch is down the road from the bridge, which is on County Road 299. He said he saw a crane pull the truck from the ditch Saturday morning. There appeared to be no one injured in the collapse, he said.
A sign posted near the bridge indicates a 7,500-pound weight capacity, Mozisek said. He said company workers at the scene of the incident speculated that the truck weighed about 93,000 pounds.
"My 10-year-old niece said she wouldn't drive a four-wheeler over that bridge," Mozisek said.
He said it is not a vital bridge, but people use it to cut through the area.
The Gonzales County Sheriff's Office declined to comment Saturday.
