Why do you want to serve in this position?

I am seeking re-election to the office of district clerk. I have served as the district clerk for the past 20 years. I would be honored to serve and work for all of Calhoun County.

What qualifies you to serve in this office?

I grew up in Port Lavaca and graduated from Calhoun High in 1969. I have worked for Calhoun County in the district clerk's office for more than 36 years. I have been a dedicated and loyal employee. I believe I have the experience to be the best candidate for the job. I also must acknowledge my staff, who works every day to be the best they can be. They are an important part of the day-to-day operation.

If elected, how will you go about effectively serving your constituents?

I believe customer service is very important. My staff and I are public servants.

We work for the people of Calhoun County.

Upon re-election, my goals would be to implement electronic filing and take steps toward a paper-free office.

• Name: Rachel Gonzales Munoz

• Age: 48

• City/county of residence: Port Lavaca/Calhoun County

• Occupation: Paralegal/legal assistant

• Political party: Democrat

• Office seeking: District clerk

Why do you want to serve in this position?

The vast majority of people who run for public office are usually in it for the right reason ... to make a difference, which is my purpose. Calhoun County is growing, and with growth comes change. In order for our Calhoun County district clerk's office to conduct daily business with the courts, other agencies and offices, and to provide our public with first-rate service, the district clerk's office must also grow with the county and grow toward implementing improved production and service capabilities.

What qualifies you to serve in this office?

I was fortunate enough to begin working in a law office at the age of 18. I am now 48 years of age, and in those 30 years, I have worked in the legal profession as a paralegal/legal assistant with office management, budgeting and data entry included. I am familiar with the legal documents prepared, filed and processed in the district clerk's office. I am experienced in the usage of computer technology, tools and resources, all which is instrumental in the foundation of the Calhoun County district clerk's office.

If elected, how will you go about effectively serving your constituents?

I would like to introduce a fresh approach to technology and utilize resources, which will modernize and enable the Calhoun County district clerk's office to be more productive and improve process interfacing with county officials, other agencies and of course, the constituents of Calhoun County, Texas.
