Time to slip into the little red dress.
Woodhouse Day Spa, 4703 N. Main St., is hosting a Go Red event, Share Your Heart from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 30. The event celebrates American Heart Month.
The event will feature a certified nutritionist from Citizens Medical Center, who will speak about the benefits of a healthy diet in relation to heart health. Guests can also enjoy heart-healthy refreshments and hors d'oeuvres; stress-reducing, mini spa services; and a heart disease risk factor assessment provided by Citizens Medical Center staff, which includes blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol screenings.
"According to AHA (American Heart Association), heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women," said Jeni Garrett, founder of The Woodhouse Day Spa. "We are partnering with the hospital and a nutritionist to help educate and bring awareness to the community with this event."
Massages, like those offered at the spa, can help improve sleep, decrease stress, lower blood pressure and improve overall circulation in the body, she said.
"At Share Your Heart, we hope to further educate guests about how massage, exercise, diet and overall well-being can strengthen the heart and potentially save them from becoming another statistic," Garrett said.
