Citizens Medical Center Volunteer and Pastoral Care Auxiliary holds meeting
Citizens Medical Center Volunteer and Pastoral Care Auxiliary held the December meeting in Citizens Medical Center's classroom. Patricia Bruchmiller, president, called the meeting to order. Pledge to the United States flag led by Joyce Teinert and prayer for hospital auxiliaries led by Allen Abraham were recited in unison.
President Bruchmiller introduced and welcomed Ginny Pruetz, Katherine Knight, Ellen Galloway, Dora Reed and Sandra Hiller as new volunteers and Sharon Rangnow as a returning member.
Dorothy Bohn presented the slate of 2014 officers. They are: Patricia Bruchmiller, president; Darlene McDonald, vice president; Esther Ford, secretary; Susan Shaw, treasurer; Mary Gleisner, press reporter; Gloria Ludlow, historian; and Virginia Shults, parliamentarian. The slate was approved and officers were elected by acclamation.
Marge Rode announced that the gift shop will be experiencing an expansion by spring. Pat Godfrey reported sending a total of eight get-well, thinking-of-you sympathy and thank-you cards to auxiliary members or their family. Shaw and Teinert exhibited Thanksgiving and Christmas tray favors that were placed on patients' food trays on those holidays. Mary Evelyn Hillmer reported that auxiliary members attended memorial, visitation and rosary services during 2013 for a family member of volunteers. Peggy Brockenbush reported that Delma Flores, Crystal Peters, Deidra Martinez, Felicia Cisneros and Christie Prince were recipients of the Victoria College scholarship awards. Citizens Medical Center Radiology Program scholarships were presented to students Marlynna Murillo, Devin Wood, Kandice Tucker, Crystal Morales, Jaclyn Seyfert, Cynthis DeLaGarza, Chelsey Cinard and Colby DeDear
The auxiliary will donate $7,500 to purchase an OB-GYN stretcher to be used in the CMC emergency room.
The adjourned meeting was followed by the traditional Christmas turkey and dressing lunch served with volunteers providing side dishes.
