Thumbs-up and thank you to Marilyn Chin, the latest author to take part in the University of Houston-Victoria's American Book Review series. Thank you for sharing your talents and passion with the Crossroads.

Thumbs-up to the decision to hold the Victoria Livestock Parade despite a previous cancelation. Thank you to all the people who stepped up to help keep this tradition alive.

Thumbs-up to the We Remember parade put on to honor veterans of the Korean War, and thank you to all of the veterans for their service to our country.

Thumbs-up to UHV's new spring enrollment record of 4,303 students. We are glad to see higher education is still growing in Victoria.

Thumbs-up to F.W. Gross Elementary School and the Victoria Adult Literacy Council for partnering to offer GED and English as a Second Language courses to school family members and others in the community.

Thumbs-up to the Monsanto Fund for donating $2,500 to Aloe Elementary School to be used to purchase science equipment for fifth-grade classrooms.

Thumbs-up to the planned opening of the Goliad Brewing Company in mid-February. We look forward to having another iconic business in the Crossroads.
