Victoria County should outlaw fireworks
Editor, the Advocate:
I spent from 8 p.m. until midnight July Fourth in our lighted barn trying to calm our terrified horse as our neighbors set off fireworks in the creek bed that runs between our house and theirs.
About 8:30 p.m., a very frightened small tan and white dog dashed into our barn. He would spend the night in our house and go home the next day.
I'm sure many people have "fun" July 4 and New Year's Day setting off fireworks that terrify animals and physically harm people.
When both the city of Victoria and Coleto Creek have large fireworks displays, and Saxet Lake is available to do-it-yourselfers, why doesn't Victoria County make setting off fireworks illegal like the city of Victoria does?
