Forty bundles of marijuana weighing 140 pounds were found in the fuel tank of a truck stopped by a Victoria County sheriff's deputy Thursday morning. The two men who were in the truck were charged with possession of marijuana.

A Victoria County deputy discovered 140 pounds of marijuana in the fuel tank of a white Ford pickup on U.S. Highway 59 near state Highway 185 at 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

The deputy with the Special Operations Unit Interdiction Team of the Victoria County Sheriff's Office found the drugs packaged in 40 bundles, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Both occupants of the truck - Ramon Garza Jr., 36, of Alton; and Maribelle Rodriguez, 34, of Alamo - were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds. They were then taken to the Victoria County Jail.
