BEEVILLE

No sale this week.

CUERO

July 11

Receipts: 1,246

Had 140 cows and 21 bulls. The packer market was much higher than it has ever been. The high level in fat cattle prices and a shortage of packer animals is driving this market to unseen highs. Prices were up as much as $15/cwt over previous weeks.

The calf market was steady to a little weaker in some classes. This was not totally unexpected, as a strong run of weeks with higher prices each week had to come to an end. This week, the market is good, just not great. The fat market hit a peak and has settled back a little, so that is a sign that price advances have to stop.
