Texas Grain Sorghum Producers welcomed a group of Chinese sorghum buyers in June during a showcase crop tour.

The tour spanned from El Campo to Arlington, and the group met with Ronnie Wittig at Coastal Warehouse, toured El Campo Co-op, Hungerford Grain and Nine Point Grain. The group also met Joe Kelley with United Ag Co-op at the Port of Victoria.

New Hope Group, a Chinese multinational corporation, was primarily focused on large purchases for duck producers and vinegar production. To date, China has purchased 172 million bushels of grain sorghum. Prior to 2013, China had not purchased U.S. grain sorghum.
