District 4 councilwoman Jean Sorensen chimed in about the recent termination of Edna's city manager, Ken Knight, saying she was unsatisfied with his job.
Knight's contract was terminated Thursday during a City Council meeting. Council members went into closed session to discuss the city manager's evaluation, where Sorensen said issues about his performance arose.
"I didn't feel like he was working for the good of the city," she said, declining to comment on what else happened during closed session.
Council members from districts 1, 3 and 4 voted in favor of the termination while District 2 Councilman William Selders and district 5 Councilman Johnny Vasquez voted against it. Vasquez declined to comment.
District 1 Councilman Richard Browning also cited Knight's performance as unacceptable but declined to elaborate.
Selders, Knight, Mayor Joe Hermes and District 2 Councilwoman Maxine Price were unavailable for comment.
Knight accepted his position as city manager in summer 2011, according to the city's website, and an interim city manager hasn't been appointed.
City Council convenes again Aug. 7.
