Is anyone having weather radio issues?

July 24, 2014 at 2:24 a.m.

Editor, the Advocate:

I am writing this letter to inquire of your readers whether they are having any problems receiving a consistent signal and alerts on their NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) alert radios. I have had intermittent problems with mine and wondered if I am alone with this problem.

I spoke with John Metz of the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, and he admitted that it had had intermittent problems with transmitting, but he thought it had remedied the problem. There has been a problem with getting reliable information on how well the signal is being received over a period of time, particularly during bad weather.

If anyone believes they are having trouble receiving a continuous and consistent signal, or if they are not getting the alerts, such as severe weather alerts, please call me at 361-648-0363 and leave your name and number. I will call you back.

Any feedback will be appreciated as I attempt to resolve this problem.
