Receipts: 1,283

Friday, there will be 10 head of purebred jerseys from the Knolle Dairy. Five are 5- to 8-years-old, and the other five are 2-year-old heifers. All have sound bags and would make great nurse cows or family cows.

Had 128 cows and 21 bulls. The packer market was consistent the last two weeks. Supplies are short, and this is holding the level at record-highs.

The calf market once again is stronger than ever. All are wondering where will it end - at what level, etc. All the steer classes are at least $2 to $3 higher while the heifer market is fully steady in a very active market.

Packer bulls: heavyweights, $120-$147; lower grades, $90-$130.

Packer cows: breakers, $78-$90; boning cows, $79-$90; canners and cutters, $92-$129; light and weak, $40-$65.

Palpated dry cows (10 head bred): $128-$150; pairs: none.

Compared to last week: The market was much stronger this week. Demand is extremely good with all classes at or near recent highs. Pasture conditions deteriorating as hot dry weather has set in.

Packer cows sold steady to $1 lower. Packer bulls sold steady. Total supply consisted of about 200 head total.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $107-$125; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $87-$107; lightweight canner cows, $74-$87.
