There was abuzz Wednesday morning at the Children's Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent, but it wasn't from children playing in the exhibits.
The excitement was abuzz from museum board members, Junior League members and supporters from the community as Melissa Dixon, museum executive director, unveiled the museum's new logo.
"This all would not have been done without the support of the Junior League in many ways," she said.
The museum's next-door neighbor not only allowed the museum to operate in the Kreisle Building but also supported the nonprofit in the form of event volunteers and board members, Dixon said.
Aug. 16 will be the last day for the Children's Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent at its Main Street location before it begins its transition into the former Playhouse Theatre on Sam Houston Drive.
To celebrate the continued rebranding efforts of the museum, Betty Jo Elder, museum board president, helped Dixon to show the group of about 20 people the new logo.
"The magnifying glass shows that we want our kids to have a respect and discovery of the museum and of the world," she said as she pulled back the cloth covering the colorful and playful logo.
Sammie Sue Hendrix, a museum board member, said she was grateful for all the years in the Kreisle Building but is excited about the new chapter the museum will begin in the Playhouse Theatre.
"This is just the beginning of what we are going to do," she said to the group. "It's going to be a great journey."
