Torres Elementary school wins $25,000 from recycling competition

Ronda Hancock's class enters the building to accept its $25,000 grand prize for recycling.

Torres Elementary School was awarded the grand prize, $25,000, as part of the National PepsiCo Recycling Rally competition.

Art teacher Kecia Garcia led the student recycling team.

Representatives from PepsiCo attended a ceremonial event at the VISD Fine Arts Center to congratulate the team.

Victoria Mayor Paul Polasek and state Rep. Geanie Morrison, R-District 30, also spoke at the event.
