A woman was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with serious injuries after her vehicle was struck from behind Tuesday.

Jackie Coldewey, 51, of Victoria, was in the 12000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 2615 when her black Nissan was rear-ended by a F-350 driven by Joe Patterson, 35, also of Victoria.

Coldewey was found unconscious at the scene of the wreck about 6 p.m., said Department of Public Safety trooper Jannie Slovacek, but regained consciousness before being originally transported to Citizens Medical Center.

Patterson told troopers with the Department of Public Safety that he was driving when his laptop slid off the center console, and he took his eyes off the road to catch it, Slovacek said. He was issued a citation for failure to control speed.

Victoria Fire Department and DaCosta and Lone Tree volunteer fire departments responded to the wreck about 6 p.m.
