Toscana Artisan Bakery and Bistro has closed its doors for a second time May 24.

Greg Moore, the second owner of Toscana, took over the restaurant in December after it closed the first time in July.

He said the restaurant's operating costs were too high for them to keep the doors open much longer.

"It's a shame," he said. "We really enjoyed the pizza."

Toscana's loyal customers returned when he reopened the store, he said. He was glad he could continue serving the pizza everyone enjoyed so much.

"Everyone said we had the best pizza in town," Moore said.

Rocky Ray Martinez, restaurant manager and chef, said they made attempts to reduce the costs, but it didn't matter.

"It was eating up the profit," Martinez said. "If it wasn't for the electricity, we would have been open."

The service was good, and the community was loyal, he said.

Moore is working on selling the restaurant equipment, so someone can reopen the location as a successful eatery.

"We're going to see who wants to turn it into something else," he said.
