Veterans' Council meets
June 12, 2014 at 1:12 a.m.
Commander Peter Riesz opened the meeting and read the minutes from the April meeting.
Roll call was held with 23 members present and a quorum needed to conduct business.
The treasurers report was made and accepted.
Funeral report: There were 12 funerals during the preceding month to make it a total of 162 so far this year compared to 168 in 2013.
Katherin Key reported on her activities in the community concerning the Veterans Center of Corpus Christi. Offices are located at Heritage Mark in Victoria by appointment only. The telephone number is 361-433-7722.
Rene Coronado, field representative for Congressman Blake Farenthold, reported on the congressman's interest in the veterans' center for Victoria.
Martin Garcia brought up the need for a veterans' center in Victoria.
The colors were presented at the Marcus Luttrel event, the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corp banquet and for the wounded vets.
The treasurer reported on the financial condition.
After discussion, it was moved and seconded that there be an establishment of a ceterans center in Victoria. The same passed unanimously.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 25.
