Two people injured in a single-vehicle wreck Monday on U.S. Highway 183 were children, a Department of Public Safety trooper said Tuesday.

Their names and conditions were not available Tuesday, but the trooper said both are boys. One of the boys was flown to University Hospital in San Antonio, and the other was taken by ambulance to Citizens Medical Center.

The driver, Veronica Leyva, 42, of Rockport, also was taken to the Victoria hospital. An adult front passenger was uninjured, according to the report.

Leyva was southbound on U.S. Highway 183 about 8 p.m. Monday when she went off the road on the right and struck a tree, according to a crash report. The impact caused the vehicle to spin before coming to rest in the middle of the highway.

Trooper Adam Garza is investigating the wreck. Cuero police, emergency medical services and fire department assisted.
