A construction mishap about 7:59 a.m. Tuesday left 1,670 customers without power on John Stockbauer Drive and the Victoria Mall area.
Construction near the Victoria Mall was the cause of the power outage, said Elgin Janssen, AEP spokesman. A track hoe made contact with an telephone line and damaged a utility pole.
The power was restored to the majority of the homes and businesses at 8:22 a.m., he said, with an additional 120 restored at 8:43 a.m. The power to the last 250 homes and businesses around and inside Victoria Mall was restored by 10:40 a.m., when the workers replaced the downed utility line, he said.
No injuries were reported, Janssen said.
