The Tuesday presentation, A Parent's Guide to Challenging Behaviors, will introduce a simple three-step approach, which can be used by parents to reduce negative reactions and enhance positive behavior choices.
The group will also discuss positive behavior strategies that can be effective both at home and at school. Presenters will be Lane Johnson with Gulf Bend Center and Brenda Nelson with TEAM Project.
The other two dates in the series are July 24 with the topic of Terrific Transitions and Aug. 7 with the topic of Strategies for a Super School Year.
Preregistration is required for all events.
Partners Resource Network - TEAM Project is one of three federally funded Parent Training and Information Centers serving Texas parents of children and youth with disabilities.
Their mission is to empower parents in their roles as parents, decision makers, and advocates for their children. http://www.partnerstx.org/
The mission of Gulf Bend Center is to improve the quality of life of persons and their families who are challenged with problems related to mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities. http://www.gulfbend.org/
Even though these agencies primarily serve individuals with disabilities, all parents are welcome to attend these events.
