Victoria County United Way and the FamilyWize Community Service Partnership have teamed up to address affordability of mental health prescriptions in the community.
They have assisted 1,394 local residents in saving $34,058 on mental health prescription medications and an additional $94,068 in other medical prescriptions they might not have been able to afford otherwise.
More than one in five U.S. adults suffers from mental health issues while one in 10 young adults experience a period of significant depression, according to MentalHealth.gov. One in 20 Americans lives with a serious mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or major depression.
