Catholic Daughters hold meeting

June 20, 2014 at 1:20 a.m.


The regular meeting of the Court Daughters of the Holy Family No. 2665 was recently called to order by Regent JoAnn Bleier.

Guest speaker Cathy Rojas, president of the Gabriel Project, was introduced by Bleier.

Rojas thanked the members for the baby gifts and gave a brief explanation of the purpose and activities of the organization.

The National Education Contest state winners from Nazareth Academy were welcomed. Awards were given to first-place winners Gracie Sanchez and Mary Lisa Murphy in computer art and second-place winner Kali Steward in photography.

Marcia Neeley, social chairwoman, thanked hostesses for the refreshments.

Jackie Slusher presented the slate of officers for 2014-16: JoAnn Bleier - regent, Barbara Respondek - vice-regent, Jo Chanek - recording secretary, Sharon Mathiews - financial secretary and Rosalie Phillips - treasurer. Members accepted the slate as presented.

Mandatory training for officers will be June 21 at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado.

Bleier thanked everyone who participated in the brunch for the court's first anniversary and the ordination reception May 24.

Claudia Sheblack reported that 50 prayer blankets are available for gifting.

Father Dan spoke for the good of the order.

Bleier adjourned the meeting until June 24 at 6:30 p.m.
