Del Papa Distributing honors employees at awards ceremony

Del Papa Distributing Co. recognized its employees, sales force and annual scholarship winner during the company's awards ceremony April 12. More than 650 employees and their families were present at Galveston's Pleasure Pier to celebrate their 2013 accomplishments.
Del Papa recognized 46 service award recipients who achieved milestones of five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years with the company in 2013.
Employees of 25 years and longer include: Paul Salazar, of Victoria; Mike Badon, Keith Slaughter, Michael Thierry and Tom Bergeron, of Beaumont; and Don Clay and Tom Youngblood, of Texas City. They were honored with financial donations made by Del Papa to nonprofit organizations chosen by each employee.
Del Papa Distributing also recognized top-performing teams across its three distribution centers. Awards were given for excellence in the categories of sales performance, delivery service and facilities: Sales Team of the Year: Victoria team led by Roland Ortega; Delivery Team of the Year: Beaumont team led by Quinton Bushnell; and Facilities Team of the Year: Texas City team led by Terest Pete, Eric Bell and Frank Veal.
The company's top honor, the Vincent Cagnola Award for Sales Excellence, went to the Texas City-based Region 3 sales team led by sales manager Russell Sullins and coordinators Mike Garcia, Santos Caballero, Nick Canton and Al Lopez.
Also present for the event was Texas City high school senior Stephanie Lazo, the 2014 recipient of the $5,000 Omero Del Papa Junior Memorial College Scholarship. Stephanie is the daughter of Del Papa employee Isabel Lazo and was selected based upon her outstanding academic achievement, leadership and community service. Stephanie will attend Texas A&M University with a goal of becoming a veterinarian.
