Victoria Sheriff's Office deputy finds 67 pounds of marijuana in fuel tank

A white Dodge pickup was stopped by a Victoria County Sheriff's Office deputy Friday, when an investigation led to the discovery of 67 pounds of marijuana in the fuel tank.

A Victoria County Sheriff's Office deputy found 13 bundles of marijuana in the fuel tank of a truck Friday morning.

The deputy, who was working as part of the office's Special Operations Unit Interdiction Team, stopped a white Dodge pickup on U.S. Highway 59, south of Victoria.

The driver, Ovidio Cruz-Trevino, 39, of Rio Grande City, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds, after the marijuana, weighing 67 pounds, was found in the fuel tank.

Cruz-Trevino remained in the county jail Friday night.
