911 service out for about 2 hours for ATT wireless customers

A physical data line failure made it impossible for AT&T wireless customers to reach 911 for about two hours Sunday.

The failure caused the line to ring busy, according to a Victoria Police Department news release.

Victoria, DeWitt, Lavaca and Gonzales counties were affected by the failure.

Several alternate numbers were promptly released by the police department as soon as the issue arose. Calls were able to be placed into the police department using 911 about 10:30 a.m. after being restored by the carrier.
