Local bowler eyes first city championship

Carri Lee has taken the lead in the race for the city championship in the 8th Annual Women's City Tournament.
The city champion is based on the scratch all events score and is seen as a prestigious title.
Lee bowled her best score during the team event as she helped her team move into first place by contributing a 630 series. Her other scores were doubles 548 and singles 588 to total 1,766.
If her score holds up, she can claim her first city championship in a family that is well known for bowling.
She is also leading the handicap all events with a nine game total of 1,928.
Joanna McNary and Samantha Wharton moved into first place in the doubles event with a score of 1,251. Wharton led the way with a set of 652.
Nora Molina and Irma Garcia dropped to second place with a score of 1,217.
Irma Garcia leads the singles event with a score of 650.
There is a tie for second place as Jonna McNary and Carri Lee rolled identical sets of 642.
In the team event, Stroud's team is the leader with a score of 2,570. Carri Stroud led the team with a score of 684. Other members on the team and individual series are Delores Stroud (638), Nora Molina (617), and Irma Garcia (631).
The handicap all events leaders are: first Lee 1,928, second Samantha Wharton 1,916, and Irma Garcia in third with a score of 1,881.
This year both the VUSBC Open and the Women's City Tournament are held on the same dates and time.
The tournament will not compete next weekend and will resume on March 15 and 16th to conclude the competition.
