Horses trapped inside a trailer that jackknifed and rolled onto its side Sunday were not injured.

A 2007 Dodge pickup, driven by Jacob McCallister, 35, of Bryan, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 59 near Ganado when McCallister lost control of his vehicle because of wet roads and a strong crosswind, according to a Department of Public Safety crash report. The 2005 horse trailer being towed began to move back and forth and broke loose from the truck, according to the report.

The truck was able to pull over to the side of the road, but the trailer, containing four horses, flipped over on its right side and came to rest in the ditch.

Neither the driver nor his passenger, Bryan Jeffrey Otto, 42, were injured.

The wreck was investigated by Trooper Craig Wycoff.
