Ben Zeller leans against his truck as he waves to passing motorists outside of Holy Family Catholic Church, the precinct 33 polling location. Zeller, a Republican candidate for county judge, said he arrived at the location a little before 7 a.m. Tuesday and spent all day waving at cars.

Come November, Victoria County will have a new county judge. Ben Zeller upset longtime county judge Donald Pozzi Tuesday night in the Republican primary.

"Grateful is the best way to describe it - grateful and humbled by the many friends and family members, prayers, encouragement and support from folks I've gotten along the way," Zeller, a 29-year-old loan supervisor, said.

He will represent the party in the Nov. 4 General Election against Democratic Party candidate Ron Reyna.

Tuesday might be remembered as interesting primary election, to wit:

• A county judge race in Goliad ended in a tie.

• A new Bush entered the political spectrum in a convincing way.

• And as expected, Democrat Wendy Davis has become the first female gubernatorial nominee in Texas since former Gov. Ann Richards.
