Steve Dickinson rolled a great 280 game to edge Jerry Cano for the weekly high series honors.

Dickinson has been rejuvenated with the annual city bowling tournament at hand to perform his best bowling of the year.

During last Thursday night's Sundowner League, he blasted the pins for games of 266, 280, and 198 to compose a very nice 744 series. He followed that up with a 708 set in the tournament team event.

Cano was not far behind with a great series of his own with games of 256, 227, and 258 for a 741 total in Sugar & Spice competition.

Bowlers also breaking the 700 mark were Brian Hyden 268-739, Jacob Silgero 289-735, Mike Stacy 264-735/691, and Charles Aiken 254-713.

Other scores of note were Steve Zeplin (258-698), Gary Hatter Jr. (269-695), T.J. Mooney (258-679/268), Larry Hall (248-670), Bobby Marques (257-667), Randy Vivero (248-656), DoLee Knowlan (248-656), Dave Matthews (653), Miles Michalec (653), Justin Tweedle (269-650/263), Larry Boyd (269), Max Soliz (256), Eric Smith (255), and senior bowler Bill Alex (250).

Another senior bowler, Bill Mouliere bowled a career high 231 high game and 604 series.

The Sundowner League provided the top three women's scores for the week with Michelle Bonuz posting the high series.

Bonuz rolled a 209 high game on her way to a 598 total.

Gayle Boyd's 225 high game contributed toward a 595 set and Joanna McNary scored a 590 set.

Christine Speer with a 216-575, and senior bowlers Gloria Billo with a 219 high game, also scored well.

Vera Cruz Restaurant bowlers for the week are Jacob Silgero 783 (Sugar & Spice) and Gloria Billo 703 (Over The Hill).

It is with regret that I mention another former bowler having passed away with the death of Bruce Luerssen last week.

Bruce was a former member of the Sugar & Spice and Over The Hill Leagues.

I remember him as a friendly person who enjoyed bowling.

My condolence and sympathy to the family.

A memorial service will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home Sunday at 3 p.m.
