Miros Gonzales, left, Victoria College admissions analyst, competes against VC student Austin Wylie in a pedal course during VC's Spring Break Awareness Day. Participants wore vision-impairing goggles designed to simulate the effects of drunken driving while maneuvering around plastic cones representing pedestrians. The Texas Department of Transportation had a rollover simulator to demonstrate what happens to vehicle occupants not wearing seatbelts. Also during the event, TxDOT personnel invited students, faculty and staff to sign a pledge promising not to drink and drive. More than 100 people signed the pledge. Other agencies participating in the event included the Victoria Police Department, the Victoria County Sheriff's Office, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the American Red Cross and the Texas Game Warden's Office. Victoria College's spring break is Monday to Friday.

Most Victoria College locations will be closed Monday to Friday for spring break.

The VC/UHV Library will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday during the break. It will be closed Friday through Sunday and reopen March 17 with regular hours of 7:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Museum of the Coastal Bend will be open for an extended schedule during spring break. Viewing hours are from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. every day through March 16. Admission to the museum is "pay what you want."

The box office at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Classes at VC will resume March 17.
