Victoria Fire Department staff and Victoria Police Department officers respond to a wreck involving a white Isuzu Rodeo that collided with a man and woman who were crossing Port Lavaca Highway at the intersection of Laurent Street. The two pedestrians suffered severe injuries, according to Sgt. Adam Nieto of the Victoria Police Department.

A Victoria family is asking the community for prayers as 19-year-old Noel Santamaria remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle late Friday night.

Santamaria was walking his girlfriend, Ashley Ramirez, 22, home after her shift at Little Caesars Pizza, said his sister, Stephanie Villarreal.

The two were crossing the street at the Port Lavaca Drive and Laurent Street intersection when an eastbound Isuzu Rodeo struck them, said Sgt. Adam Rodriguez of the Victoria Police Department. They were rushed to DeTar Hospital Navarro with severe injuries, said Sgt. Adam Nieto, who was at the scene Friday night.

The driver, Michael Mutchler, 69, of Victoria, was not at fault in the accident.

Santamaria remains in the hospital's intensive care unit, and Ramirez's condition is listed as fair, a hospital supervisor said.

"We're asking for prayers," Villarreal said. "Extra prayers and for people to reach out to him and his girlfriend."
