Editor, the Advocate:

In response to a letter to the editor in the Tuesday edition:

You are twisting verses in the Bible to further the extremist view of "us against them" and "God's chosen ones."

When you speak of the state of the world, it is you who are creating the strife. You are the same as the people who use the Bible to justify being on the wrong side of history every single time - supporting slavery, claiming it was a "God-given right;" opposing blacks and women voting; opposing the ending of child labor; opposing minimum wage; and opposing Social Security and Medicare.

While these people are sitting there all smug and self-righteous, the world is going to pass them by, and they will become insignificant.

You speak of the truth? You do not know the meaning of it.
