Q:How did winning change your life? A: Being in D.C., it let me meet a lot of new people, and that was pretty fun. Having a better vocabulary means better diction for essays and such; in this way, it prepared me for college.

Q:How did winning affect the career you are in? A: I want to major in medicine at UT Austin. With all the medical terminology, knowing the roots of the words will give me a better understanding of the word.

Q:What advice would you give to this year's spellers? A: Don't be nervous. If you get out, you get out. It's fine. Don't be shy. Be confident. There's always next year. You got there. So, if you get out, still be glad that you're there.

Q:Are you still a good speller? A: Yes.

Q:How far did you advance at the national spelling bee? A: I just got out in the first round.

What prize did you win? That giant Merriam Webster's dictionary and the big trophy.
