Q:How did winning change your life?

A: It was a great experience and allowed me to participate in a big national competition, which really pushed and inspired me to succeed and continue to work hard.

Q:How did winning affect the career you are in? A: I'm planning on going to medical school next year. I've gotten into Harvard, Yale and Columbia medicals schools, but haven't decided which to attend yet. I think the discipline and memorization skills I gained from the spelling bee will definitely help me here.

Q:What advice would you give to this year's spellers? A: Read a lot of books, which help you gain intuition on the correct spellings of things. Don't be nervous and spell too fast.

Q:Are you still a good speller?

A: I think so. The spelling bee exposed me to many difficult and obscure words that I still remember how to spell today.

Q:How far did you advance at the national spelling bee?

A: I remember I was one point away from advancing past the second round.

What prize did you win at the regional spelling bee? I was first place. I got a big trophy.
