A 19-year-old Victoria man died Monday night after his motorcycle ran into the back of a tractor-trailer at a high rate of speed.

Officers responded to the 10700 block of U.S. Highway 77 at 8:42 p.m.

The tractor-trailer was on the westbound U.S. Highway 87 off ramp and the motorcyclist, Bryan Doane, was traveling behind it.

He was traveling at high rate of speed and struck the back end of the tractor-trailer, Victoria Police Sgt. Chris Guerra wrote in a news release.

Doane was taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro and later died of his injuries, Guerra wrote.

The driver of the tractor-trailer's name, age and city of residence were not available Tuesday morning.
