A preliminary autopsy report ruled the cause of death for a Victoria man found deceased in a field in rural Victoria County as a suicide.

Bobby Erwin Shaw Jr., 34, was reported missing Saturday. His family said he was behaving strangely and left his home with two handguns.

Shaw was found in a field off Beck Road, said Lt. Jeff Meyer of the criminal investigation unit of the Victoria County Sheriff's Office.

The preliminary result showed the cause of death to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound; however, investigators are still waiting for results of a toxicology test, Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor said.

Justice of the Peace Stuart Posey ordered the autopsy.
