Senior sets UHV career hit record in 7-5 loss

Texas College scored four runs in the first two innings and hung on for a 7-5 win over UHV on Friday at Riverside Stadium.
The Jaguars (10-20) scored four runs in the fifth inning to pull within a run but were unable to prevent their seventh loss in the last eight games.
Ryan Suescun set UHV's all-time career hit record with a single in the first inning.
Suescun also had a triple to bring his career hit total to 176. David Baker held the previous record with 174 hits.
Brandon Bohanon went 3 for 5 with a double and a RBI to lead the Jaguars at the plate.
Juan Mesa had two hits, including a solo home run in the second inning, for the Steers (13-17).
The teams will return to Riverside Stadium for a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
