For all the troubles UHV has gone through - losing six of its last seven games - the Jaguars swept their first doubleheader in nearly a month with a pair of wins against Texas College.
Less than 24 hours after falling to Texas College 7-5, UHV (12-20) defeated the Steers (13-19) 13-1 in game one and 7-2 in game two.
Ryan Suescun added six hits Saturday to his newly found UHV career hits record. He now has 182 career hits. In game one, he drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when, in his second at-bat of the inning, he singled to right field and Joshua Boothe and Kyle Bludau scored to give UHV the 13-1 final score.
Andrew Walker recorded his second win of the season, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing just one run on three hits and three walks. He struck out one batter. Andre Del Bosque and Cory Hulsey also saw time of the mound for UHV.
In game two, the Jaguars scored all seven of their runs in the second and third innings before giving up runs in the fifth and sixth to win 7-2.
Suescun led UHV at the plate in game two, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a walk.
Bo Sheridan picked up his second win of the season. He allowed one unearned run on three hits, two walks and a strikeout.
The Jaguars return to action Tuesday when they travel to St. Mary's, who defeated UHV 4-1 on March 19.
