After going 3-9 to start the month of March, UHV is ending the third month of the year on the right note.
The Jaguars (14-21) have won four of their past five (their only loss came at the hands of St. Mary's on Tuesday in a 5-4 decision) to cap off March after sweeping Huston-Tillotson in doubleheader action Wednesday afternoon 9-6 in Game 1 and 5-4 in Game 2.
Kyle Bludau drove in three runs in the Jaguars' Game 1 victory, including a pair on a double to deep right field in a four-run fourth inning that gave UHV an 8-0 lead.
Huston-Tillotson made things interesting with two runs in each of the next three innings but couldn't close the gap between itself and UHV.
Nathan Falkenstine (4-4) earned the win for UHV, pitching four innings and allowing just two runs on nine and striking out four batters. Andre Del Bosque and Cory Hulsey also saw time on the mound for the Jaguars.
Game 2 wouldn't be as easy of a win for the Jaguars, though.
UHV found itself trailing 4-1 headed into the fifth inning. That's when the offense came to life.
Bludau singled to left center field to drive in one run, and Joshua Boothe drove in two more with his double to deep left center field that tied the game at 4-4.
Dylan Blaha drove in the game-winning run in the top of the sixth inning when he doubled to deep left center field with two outs on the board.
Cody Carver (1-2) picked up the win for UHV, pitching just one inning. He faced just four batters and allowed two hits. Andrew Walker got the start, lasting four innings and giving up four earned runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out three batters.
UHV returns to action Wednesday when St. Edward's travel to Victoria. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
