A tractor-trailer overturned Thursday morning at U.S. Highway 59 North and Fox Road. Traffic was diverted for an hour as the wreck was cleared.

Traffic through U.S. Highway 59 near Fox Road was shut down for about an hour Thursday after a tractor-trailer overturned.

The vehicle, driven by John Ray Benavides, 34, of La Feria, was northbound on 59 when it ran off the right side of the road.

Benavides corrected to come back onto the road, but his load shifted, turning the tractor-trailer on its side at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, said Department of Public Safety Lt. Glen Garrett.

Benavides was uninjured, and traffic was diverted on both northbound and southbound lanes while the trailer was turned upright and moved out of the way, said DPS spokesman Gerald Bryant.

Benavides was carrying a load of produce from South Texas to Tampa, Fla. Trooper James Vinson is investigating the wreck, Garrett said.
