Shane Lothman's sixth season at Industrial will be his last.
Lothman has announced his resignation as athletic director and head football coach - a position he's held for the last three seasons.
Tony Williams, superintendent of the Industrial school district, said Lothman cited "a need for a change" as the reason for his resignation.
"We appreciate coach Lothman's contribution to our school district over the past six years and wish him well in the future," Williams said in a text message.
Lothman did not return phone or text messages seeking comment Thursday.
Lothman was the defensive coordinator at Industrial for three seasons and became the athletic director and head football coach in April of 2011 when Doug Kuhlmann resigned to become the head football coach at San Angelo Lake View.
Lothman was previously a head coach at Lubbock Roosevelt for four seasons.
He has an overall record of 27-43 and went 9-20 in his three seasons at Industrial.
The Cobras were 2-7 last season and had a 1-4 record in District 14-2A, Division I.
Industrial last made the football playoffs in 2010.
Williams said the district is advertising for the position on its website and interviews could begin as early as April 14.
Williams added that Lothman would continue in his role as athletic director until a replacement is hired.
Industrial will compete in District 14-3A, Division I next season against Edna, Rice Consolidated, Palacios, Hempstead and Hitchcock.
