Best Elected Official:

Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor

Victoria County Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor has been a good steward of public safety for a decade this year.

And this is at least the second consecutive year the public has voted him the best elected official in the Crossroads.

"What we do day-in and day-out is about accountability, not entitlement," O'Connor said. "They've lost their ways in this aspect in Washington."

People want leadership, not false promises in this day and age of politics, he said.

O'Connor is an advocate for total transparency in his office and he finds making a difference through his work gratifying.

"It's not about me," O'Connor said. "It's about the men and women who dedicate their lives while we're asleep to make us safe."

The sheriff's office is a champion for those who are not able to champion for themselves, he said.

"People come and go, but the sheriff's office does not," he said. "I do my best to ensure the integrity of the office."
