Best Lake:

Coleto Creek

Chief Ranger Wilfred Korth said Coleto Creek is geared toward families.

"We try to provide a place for families to go to provide safe recreation," he said.

The park won best lake in the Advocate's Best of the Best competition.

The park is filled with activities, from fishing to swimming in the lake, not to mention eight miles of single track mountain bike trails, a mile of nature trails, a playground, sand volleyball courts, 75 camp sites, four camping cabins, four rental trailers and two group-use shelters.

"Most of my staff has been here for over 25 years," Korth said. "It (being nominated) makes us feel good and indicates to us that we must be doing a good job."

Along with the activities, Korth said the park also hosts several educational days, from nature walks to environment and hopes to host new events in this year.
